New and one-trip containers
A "new" or one-trip container has made a single cargo voyage from the factory, so it is in near-new shape: clean lines, solid floors, smooth-operating doors, and minimal wear. These are the best-looking option and a popular choice when appearance matters, storefronts, customer-facing sites, or conversions.
Cargo-worthy and wind-and-water-tight
Used containers are commonly described two ways:
- Cargo-worthy (CW): structurally sound and certified suitable for shipping, meaning the unit can carry a valid safety approval under the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC, 1972), shown on the data plate on the container door. A dependable, weather-tight unit that shows normal age.
- Wind and water tight (WWT): keeps wind and water out for storage use, though it may not carry shipping certification. A practical, value-friendly choice for on-site storage.
As-is containers
"As-is" units are sold in their current state and may have dents, surface rust, or older doors. They can be a budget option when looks are not a priority and you mainly need a sturdy, lockable box.
